Playa Honda has a good selection of authentic bars and restaurants in the village. In fact, the area of La Manga and Mar Menor has many good quality restaurants and bars, national as well as international ones. You can sample food from nearly everywhere in the world. Cuisines include Italian, Mexican, American, Chinese, Greek, French, German, English and of course Spanish. From fish and chips to frogs legs it's all here! Best of all are the traditional Spanish Tapas bars.

The following restaurants and bars are suggestions only. Some of these eating places are listed because they are one of our favourites or because they have been recommended by visitors to our apartment. Enjoy! 

 

 




Playa Honda

Meson Casa Blanca,   for Tapas and Sangria. A Spanish bar with an excellent tapas counter and a friendly atmosphere.

Apicoco Bar   run by an English couple. Teresa and Simon serving snacks and main meals, that are English in origin but with a Spanish flavour. Dine here for your "Sunday Lunch Specials" or if you are missing your home comforts try the smashing traditional English Breakfast!
 
Julietta Tapas Bar and Restaurant,   serves a good Spanish Breakfast. They also have daily Specials at around 7-8 Euros and a full evening restaurant service including variety of traditional Spanish tapas, pizzas, paellas and fish dishes.

Malvasia Restaurant  , a smart evening only a la carte restaurant with a fine wine list. The food here is very nicely presented, quite price but ideal for that 'special occasion'.

The Beach Bar   located on Playa Honda Beach has good selection if snacks, ice cream and drinks.

La Manga Campsite.   Just a short stroll along the beach. Serving drinks, tapas, snacks. breakfast and a full evening restaurant service. You can have a 3 course special menu every evening with wine and bread included for around 10 Euros!

                                                                                       

Cabo de Palos

This typical coastal village with numerous restaurants dotted around the village. Given their seaside location, most specialise in seafood, some of the best in then area. Here are just a few!

El Mosquí Restaurant   Located on the road to the Lighthouse For excellent "caldero" (Seafood) rice. Try the freshly prepared "pescado frito" (fried fish platter). This restaurant is popular with locals and has a nautical feel.
 
El Pez Rojo   This  fish restaurant is known as the "Balcony over the port" and is located on the harbour front.  Try the "long and narrow" trial menu ( "many dishes, small quantities"). But really offers generous portions! 

Restaurante Miramar   a favourite with many visitors. Good for freshly caught fish. Located next to the harbour, it has an excellent. Traditional Paella and caldero are its specialities. Best booked in advance.

Festiva Chinese Restaurant. Restaurante Chino   Every one just loves this restaurant!  Fantastic value for money and the food is first class too. The food portions are generous and the staff friendly The place to go if it's your birthday!

Rieppiah Wine and Tapas Bar,   serve a special lunchtime Daily Plate including wine and bread for less that 10 Euros.

 

La Tana.   Murcia's finest fish restaurant!  Located next to the harbour and the best tables are on the promenade overlooking the harbour entrance. Here you can enjoy only the freshest catch of the day and enjoy the authentic Spanish ambience.  La Tana has a great selection of seafood and paella. Sit outside in the summer and watch the boats come into the harbour while you eat a delicious meal. Popular with both locals and holidaymakers alike, it is advisable to book.


La Taberna Del Peurto.   Set by the waters edge and recommended for its seafood platter and goats cheese salad.

 

El Navegante   This superb fish restaurant enjoys a wonderfully elevated position overlooking the bay. Ask for the daily specials! Bookings recommended.

 

 

 

Los Belones

 

 

Via Romana.   A very lively Pizza restaurant run by Ian and Pepe.  A taste of Italy with a Spanish twist. Good for pasta too!  Would recommend that you book a table, as it is usually busy.


 

Run.   Also known as Cocina Asiatica.  A very chic Japanese restaurant. Offering a wonderful fusion of Japanese & oriental cuisine in the most minimal modern surrounds imaginable.

 

Blues Restaurant.   New restaurant with an international menu.

 

Jills Village Restaurant.   Run by a very friendly ex-pat. This interesting eating places has an international menu at reasonable prices.

 

El Pellizquito Restaurant.   This relaxed restaurant is situated amongst the backstreets, near the church but is definitely worth finding. Specials are its Spanish meat dishes, particularly lamb. Very informal, but good food at reasonable prices. 

 

Rierpi  This restaurant is where the locals eat. Simple Spanish food at low prices!  Good Spanish tapas at lunchtimes.

 

El Oasis.   A comfortable restaurant, excellent  for international and Spanish cuisine.

 

Parras Indian Restaurant.    Full restaurant service and take-away/delivery service.

 

The Village.      This popular restaurant  has been in Los Belones for years. With a varied international menu, there is something here for every taste.
