The La Manga Strip

Our apartment situated in the Costa Calida of Spain, has easy access to the La Manga Strip, either by car, Taxi, bike or a very pleasant stroll along the shores of the Mar Menor Sea. La Manga del Mar Menor is known as a paradise between two seas with infinite beaches, sandy sea beds and crystalline waters.

The long, thin strip of land between the blue lagoon of the Mar Menor sea and the Mediterranean is known as the La Manga strip, which means "The sleeve of the little sea".  This unique penisula is only 20km long and 3km wide, with 2 seas encompassing its shores. In fact, one of La Manga's official slogan

" a paradise between two Seas".

With the Mar Menor sea on one side and the Mediterranean on the other, both have golden sandy beaches. This area is full of charm and is the place where the Spanish like to take their holidays!

The entrance of the Manga strip starts at the lighthouse in Cabo de Palos. From here you can drive along the whole strip. There are lots of sandy beaches which line both sides of the road. The La Manga Strip is also a haven for Golfers, Water Sport enthusiasts and families alike. Here you will find a great selection of shops, smart hotels, leisure facilities, cafes, cosy restaurants, bars and markets. This is also the place to come for the nightlife scene.

Close to the end of the La Manga, which ends at the village of Veneziola, you will find the superb new marina and lighthouse in Punta del Cocedo. A lovely spot to induluge in one of the lovely patisteries and enjoy the views over the Mar Menor Sea to one side and the Mediterranean to the other. Few can resist the chance to swim in two seas on the same day.

Boat trips can be taken from the small harbour at Tomas Maestre, located at the Northern End of the Strip, to the islands of the Mar Menor. Enjoy the superb restaurants on the islands or the cosy lounge bars at Tomas Maestre. There is a great Pizzeria here too!

You can also hire or buy boats and yachts from this Marina.

With its numerous restaurants and romatantic sunset views over the Marina and Mar Menor sea, the Tomas Masetre port is a lovely area.

The La Manga strip is known for its clean air and healthy waters. Some take these waters for the treatment of rheumatic diseases and other skin complaints. In fact, the World Health Organisation has described the Murcia area as ‘One of the World Healthiest places to live’. 

During autumn and winter, the sunny weather is almost guaranteed and, even during those colder days, it is still usually sunny, letting you enjoy the spectaular sunrises over the Meditertanean sea and the stunning sunsets over the Mar Menor sea.
